How did you get roped into doing this, and what was your first thought when asked?

I was asked my a model from 2018.  My first thought was RUN AWAY!

 

Why did you say yes?

I like to help kids.  I've helped with the BGCEV Golf Tournament for the past couple years, and I'm excited for this opportunity.

 

What is your official job title?

Lumbermen's Buying Service - Vice President

 

How would you describe your job to your mother?

I would say, "Katie, rather than bore you, lets put on some Jimmy Buffett and drink wine!

What is your favorite part of your occupation?

The people are great! We only do business with people we like.

My wife and I are 60+ years of age...our daughter is 14 yrs old. Never say never!

 

Tell us about your personal passions, talents, and/or hobbies.

I lost a family member to multiple sclerosis, which drove me to raise money for the national MS Society.  Then the OHSU MS Center for 30+ years.  This went from a passion into a hobby of sorts. As far as a talent, I can talk like Donald Duck which comes in handy in Eugene. :)

 

What is something that you swore you would never do as a parent before you had kids that you do now?

I plead the 5th on this question.

Who inspired you when you were growing up, and why?

I am not really sure I've grown up yet, but I would say it was my parents.  Fox and Katie, they were always there for me no matter how stupid I was. At age 94 my dad is still there for me in a pinch. I am very lucky!

 

If you could go back and talk to your 12-year-old self, what would you say?

Buy low, sell high, marry money!
