Get To Know Kristen And Why She Said Yes To Being A Model

How did you get roped into doing this, and what was your first thought when asked?

Amy Newport is very persistent. First though was...Crap! Wait... I have to strut my stuff in front of hundreds of people?

What made you say yes?

"You may find that making a difference for others makes the biggest difference in you." (One of my favorite quotes)

What is your official job title?

Executive Assistant/Boss Lady

How would you describe your job to your mother?

My job is different everyday. It comes with new challenges daily, but I get to be creative, problem solve, be a leader, and a decision maker.

All families are unique, tell us about yours...

I have 3 kids, and two dogs and we are all very stubborn. We have dance parties when life gets too crazy, and we try not to take life too seriously. We are a hot mess most of the time...but I wouldn't trade or change it for anything.

Tell us about your personal passions, talents, and/or hobbies.

I love party planning, crafting, redoing furniture to name just a few of things I like to do in my spare time.

What is something that you swore you would never do as a parent before you had kids that you do now?

Where do I start? "Drive a minivan..been there done that" Give into tantrums in public. Let my kids eat dinner on the couch. Use electronics when we go out to dinner. Never let my boys play with guns. Ha! I will not make separate meals...my kids will eat what I make...and I would never use the TV as a babysitter...oops.

What is something that people might be surprised to know about you?

I love power tools! Whether it's power-washing the driveway, using a chop saw to cut wood, trimming brushes in the yard or simply using an electric drill.

Who inspired you when you were growing up?

I used to say when I grown I hope to be half the mom my mom was to me and my sisters. She has taught me how to be selfless, supportive, non-judgmental, kind, loving, giving, patient (although I'm still working on this)... and when life gives you lemons you make lemonade and keep moving forward.

If you could go back and talk to your 12-year-old self, what would you say?

Don't give your parents a reason to hate your teenage years.
