Get To Know DJ And Why He Said Yes To Being A Model

How did you get roped into doing this, and what was your first thought when asked?

Jennifer Richardson asked if I would be a part of this great event. My first thought was, "you want me to voluntarily sign up to walk down a catwalk"!? Followed by, "what an honor to be asked to participate in such a great event for the community".

Why did you say yes?

I said yes because I remember how it felt as a young kid when someone older than me showed me attention. The positive affect that had on my confidence and happiness was huge, and now I am in a position to do that for these kids.

What is your official job title?

Wealth Advisor, Financial Freedom Wealth Management Group

How would you describe your job to your mother?

We help our clients plan for their future based on their goals and financial situation. We review their entire financial picture and work with them to create a tailored plan to reach those goals.

What is your favorite part of your occupation?

My favorite part of my occupation is helping people plan for their future. It is a great feeling putting together a plan for a client that will give them financial freedom so they can focus on what they love in life.

All families are unique, tell us about yours.

I have a large family with six brothers and sisters. I feel so lucky to have such great parents and siblings who all support each other and our differences. We merged families when I was 10 years old, which was tough at first, but ended up being one of the best experiences of my life. Not only did I receive new siblings, but great life-long friends.

Tell us about your personal passions, talents, and/or hobbies.

Aside from helping people plan for their future, I love spending time with my 3yr old son, Oliver.  I also consider myself a professional football watcher.  Been doing it all my life! Always enjoy supporting the men and women Ducks.

What is something that you swore you would never do as a parent before you had kids that you do now?

I swore I would never let my love for my child cause irrational thoughts and worries. That left me the moment he was born and now I have joined the rest of the worried parents!

Who inspired you when you were growing up, and why?

May be a cliche, but my mother inspired me.  The way she is able to balance her work and family life amazes me still to this day. Her career has always been very important to her and she has achieved great success, but she always showed my siblings and I that we were the most important thing to her.

If you could go back and talk to your 12-year-old self, what would you say?

I would tell him to believe in himself, take chances and be open to new learnings and experiences.  Life is an incredible journey and you never know what is in store for you.
