Get To Know Amy And Why She Said Yes To Being A Model

How did you get roped into doing this, and what was your first thought when asked?

I think I got roped into this because I am on the board for BGCEV and my first thought was that they must be desperate if they are asking me. Just kidding, sort of. I was extremely flattered and actually adjusted some travel plans so I could participate.

Why did you say yes?

I am very passionate about helping children, so this was a great way to support a fantastic cause. Additionally, I knew I would have some extra time on my hands as I transition careers and I am thrilled to have something that is so worthwhile to put my passion and energy towards right now.

What is your official job title?

It’s complicated. I was the vice president, marketing director for Pacific Continental Bank prior to the bank being acquired. I am currently looking for my next career, so I am calling myself a “marketing leader” at the moment.

How would you describe your job to your mother?

I get to help companies and people look and sound really good through storytelling (brand stories), writing, social media and more. And I love what I do!

All families are unique, tell us about yours.

I don’t have a family of my own yet so I’ll tell you about my immediate family. I like to refer to mine as “my modern family.” My parents both remarried when I was very young so I have been blessed with a bonus mom and a bonus dad along with three sisters and two brothers all together. I also get to be a cool aunt to four nephews and a niece.

Tell us about your personal passions, talents, and/or hobbies.

I have been a huge Ducks fan since I was very young and love sports. I love to learn about anything and have a knack for remembering the most random of facts (it comes in handy at trivia games and when watching Jeopardy!). I love to travel – I spent time in Ireland last year and am planning an extended solo trip to Europe this year. I also love to bake and go absolutely crazy every Christmas with 2+ full days of non-stop baking for family, friends and co-workers.

What is something that you swore you would never do as a parent before you had kids that you do now?

I have not been fortunate enough to have kids of my own yet though there’s nothing I want more in life and hope to have kids someday.

Who inspired you when you were growing up, and why?

My grandparents. They owned Tiffany’s Drug Stores here in Eugene and they were the most amazing people. I try to live my life the way they did. They were very smart, successful in business and gave back to the community; I also knew how much they loved me (and my family) and each other and they made it point to do lots of things with us when I was growing up and also took long trips together. I loved staying with them, going to work with them and going to their house near the coast on the weekends (my favorite childhood memories are when my sister and I would go to “The River” with them).

If you could go back and talk to your 12-year-old self, what would you say?

Growing out your bangs will be a decision you never regret. That and although life is going to throw you curveballs, live life with passion, integrity, compassion, fun, laughs and no regrets.
